The Adamsonian website has been created for three purposes:
- To serve as catalyst for discussions on campus issues.
- To keep alumni updated and thereby stimulate the forming of lasting friendships.
- To provide a unique, pervasive online identity for all Adamsonians.
We do have 12 Blogging Rules:
- Write as yourself. Speak in the first person, bring out your own personality, say what you want to say.
- Be responsible. Freedom of speech entails personal responsibility. As everything you post represents you, avoid posting anything you wouldn’t be comfortable being viewed by anyone, from your parents to potential employers.
- Plagiarism is forbidden. Any blogger caught copying and “owning” somebody else’s work and posting it on the site will be instantly vaporized.
- Observe language goodness. Always try to spell everything correctly, and do not use curse words or chat language (i miz u, etc, LOL!) in your post, unless you are writing a piece that satirizes that particular subject. In any case, use the Forum for that.
- No poetry or song lyrics please. Do not post them here.
- Titles should be sentence case. Write your title, for example, as “This is your post,” and not “This Is Your Post,” and never as “this is your post.” Wrong titling does not really kill us, but isn’t it nice if title style is consistent and everybody follows simple rules?
- Assign the proper category for your post. For alumni, please always click the Alumni Stories, then click another subcategory under Alumni Stories that more specifically describes your post (e.g., Alumni Stories > Career Tales). For students, please always click Campus Issues, then click another subcategory (e.g., Campus Issues > Gossip). Please note that there are two major categories (Adamson Chronicle and Love Stories) that don’t have subcategories, which means both students and alumni can use them.
- Link to other online content/blog posts/forum thread if necessary.
- Be nice. Avoid attacking other individuals. Correct your own mistakes and don’t alter previous posts without indicating that you have done so.
- “Exposes” or criticisms that seemingly “attack” Adamson University, the student government, or the university’s administrators may be allowed as long as they are written as “educated” and reasonable as possible and NOT as if written by somebody who’s foaming in the mouth. But please remember that “constructive criticism” is much more preferred than pointless admin bashing.
- Provide reliable information and perspective, as much as possible.
- You may post in English or Pilipino (Tagalog). If you somehow feel that you’ll be able to express yourself better and much clearer in Tagalog, please do so. Avoid telling your thoughts in English if you’re not completely comfortable with it, and just proudly use the country’s national language.
Profile:
Please completely fill out your Profile and Personal Options in WordPress (click Users > Your Profile > About Yourself) as these data appear on each of your post and serve as your signature.
Posting Images:
- Posting photos/images is encouraged, but images must not exceed the maximum width limit of 450 pixels; anything wider than that might muck up the layout, as well as unnecessarily slow down the site.
- If you don’t know how to upload images with your post, please read the “10 easy steps to insert images in your blog post.”
