The Adamson Chronicle’s “Black Issue” — and some reminders

The venerable Adamson Chronicle stalwart Dennis Torrecampo emailed me a scanned image of the issue that had made a huge impact on the course of the paper: the “Black Issue.” Chroniclers, pay your respects. Thanks, Dennis! I also hope somebody posts here some of the good articles from the paper’s past issues. Also, more priceless opinion from Chroniclers and AUSG officers — past and present — would be great. It is up to all of you to make this site an intellectually worthwhile endeavor… But you already know that.

Also, may I remind everybody that we don’t allow poems on the blog. Yes, not even the lyrics of the most awesome song in the world. All other forms of literary attempts are allowed as long as it’s prose. Please check out the Blogging Guidelines. I’ve taken down two recent posts from a new member — awesome, exceedingly touching poems, by the way — because they “violate” the basic rules.

If you must know, I hate removing blog posts here because the very act keeps me awake at night and gives me screaming nightmares. So please, read the Blogging Guidelines so I can sleep the deep sleep of youngsters.

And lastly, congratulations to the new issue of the reconstituted, vitamin-enriched Adamson Chronicle, especially to its guide, Arlene Paredes. Keep it up, guys. And thanks for advertising this site.

hi deity, nadala ako ng blurbs ng dress your family in corduroy. he he. actually ang nagustuhan ko pa lang dun ay yung first two essays; the rest of the entries are really not extraordinary. i know many bloggers who have written better stuff, and nobody provides “compelling blurbs” for them.

and i didnt really know anything about david sedaris’ sexual orientation; i realized it only when i reached the middle of the book. kaya nagtaka ako when i read his description of that pseudo-poker game. seriously, i couldnt find what the fuss was about; the book doesn’t do justice to the jacket blurbs. anyway, maybe the best first two entries are enough.

wala akong ginagawa dun sa friendster blog ha. how could you even think i would ever block you. he he he. baka may technical glitch lang ang friendster. lagi naman silang ganyan e. :D

same here. basically the reason why i bought DYFC. david sedaris has a domestic partnership with that guy he often mentions in the book, hugh.

he’s an okay writer, i think. entertaining and hilarious at some point but there are times that he tends to dwindle down. tama ka, maraming bloggers na mas magaling kesa sa kanya, at saka yung American Korean writer na si Annie Choi. ende naman ganun kaganda yung book niya. yung first 3 chapters din lang.

friendster here in korea is retarded. i will try again later.
