there’s an old Jedi saying (which came from a galaxy, so far away): goals often become the thing you talk about, instead of the thing you do.

i said that to maureen when she told me for the millionth time how she’s going to write a story. i said that to some old officemates who hated their jobs but still haven’t gotten around to doing something about it; one day they’re gonna wake up 50 years old and really bitter. i said that to some of my friends who had told me grand plans in 2005 and are still “talking” about it late into 2007. the key word is “Decide.” it’s one of the most beautiful action words, right up there just sitting beside “Do.”

on the other hand, there are good people who know the value of Do — Erwin Ilao for instance, with his ownlegacy.com.

go out there and begin shooting, bondgirl. cameras are now so cheap — i’ve bought a really good one for $400 (Sony) and lighting can be assembled through improvision (buy bulbs from divisoria and play with cheap reflectors. there’s a book that teaches you how to shoot a digital film on a shoe-string budget). and i would have started doing my own “experimental” short films, except that i currently prioritize my blogs and this long piece of fiction i endlessly revise. Oh, i think i should also add the word “prioritize.”
i hope you guys will really come around it, sit down, and begin giving flesh to your dreams. sabi nga ni john lennon: “all you need is love, it’s easy.” he he he

I am a dreamer. I have noticed throughout my life that whatever I day dreamt about came true, in one way or another, at some point. My dreams are like sparks in my head, that needed to be cultivated. I have to really commit to it because there is no way it will happen without a commitment. If there is that commitment, I discovered that there is no way it should not happen as well. And so there lies the difference my mere wishes, and dreams. My wishes border on fantasy and are mostly entertaining, while my dreams turn into goals and are therefore engaging. When I dream I visualize the framework on which things will build. When I dream there is that compelling motivation to act. The act follows a desire. And it should really be a strong desire. So the process flows… dream, desire, act. When I get down to it, I realize my life is being lived the way I want. And I have peace in myself. I am free.
